Target Tracking

Here are all the "legal" companies that yahoo, gmail/google, Hotmail, etc. "sell" your personal data to. I can tell you that Acxiom is the worse or best depending on your perspective. They mine data on you better than the CIA or FBI ever could/would. And don't think Nielson is a nice survey company either simply gathering data for TV Guide. They can put any demographic firm or Private Eye to shame.

It roughly costs $2000 to get off their databases. You pay a company who knows how to do it, but the first time you buy something on line or choose something with a cookie, you're out $2000. Now some premium options are available on various email hosts, but they are only as good as your money and filtering.

The best thing you can do is use a VPN. Even Microsoft has that capability and it's not fancy, but remember your email is hosted by a heartless organization trying to make money. Go onto your options tab of any email dashboard. You can't change the settings no matter what you do. You use their service, they have a right to sift through your underwear. Unless you come up with a completely fake name, which is doable. Some folks do.

This is why those HTML machines didn't work, because companies couldn't store cookies on the computers and what for, no value. They want to comb your computer for banking, surfing, buying, playing data. Ever wonder why you keep getting Viagra or porn spam or applets on your email dashboard?! There you go. It's all about census data and propensity. Sometimes they guess right, sometimes they don't.
